Information on the International Round Table ‘Threats to International Security in the Carpathian Region’

The meeting of the International Round Table ‘Threats to International Security in the Carpathian Region’ took place on April 22, 2021, as part of a scientific project under the Erasmus + ‘Jean Monnet Transcarpathian Center for Studying European Development Strategies.’ Known scientists of higher educational institutions and academic institutions of Ukraine, Slovakia, and Kazakhstan took part in its work.

The participants of the meeting considered the following issues

  • The main challenges to international security in the Carpathian region;
  • The impact of Russian aggression on the state of international security in the Carpathian region;
  • Prospects for international security in the Carpathian region in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic;
  • The role of the Lublin Triangle and the possibility of its expansion;
  • Prospects for Ukraine’s accession to the ‘Bucharest Nine.’

Prof. of the Department of International Studies and Public Communications of Uzhhorod National University Oksana Sviezhentseva; Head of the Department of International Economic Relations of  UzhNU, Director of the Institute of State Management and Regional Development Prof. Volodymyr Prykhodko; Professor of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Iliya Kononov; Professor of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University Serhiy Fedunyak; Dean of the Faculty of History and International Relations of Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University, Associate Professor Yuriy Temirov; Researcher of the Educational and Research Institute of European Integration Studies, Associate Professor of the Department of International Studies and Public Communications, Director of the Scientific Research Institute of Migration and Demography of UzhNU, Assoc. Prof. Petro Tokar took part in the Round Table.

At the round table meeting, the International Internet Conference ‘European Integration Aspects of the Development of Higher Education in Ukraine in the Context of Current Challenges and Trends’ opening was announced. The conference is included in the List of Scientific Conferences formed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for 2021. The conference was held in the Uzhhorod National University within a research project under the Erasmus + Program Jean Monnet Transcarpathian Center for the Study of European Development Strategies at Uzhhorod National University.’

The materials of the Round Table and open offline conference participants will be published in the «International Scientific Bulletin» of Uzhhorod National University in Ukrainian and English.
