Annual International Forum The 15th Ecumenical Social Week ‘Wondering Identity: Considering Meanings and Values’ took place on October, 3 – 7, 2022 in Lviv (with online attendance option). The events topic is especially relevant during the war. The forum is organized Institute of Ecumenical Studies, Ukrainian Catholic University, Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung in Ukraine, and supported by a number of partners.

Candidate of Sociological Sciences, Researcher of the Educational and Research Institute of European Integration Studies of UzhNU, Associate Professor of the Department of International Studies and Public Communication, Director of the Scientific Research Institute of Migration and Demography of Uzhhorod National University, Director of the Jean Monnet Transcarpathian Center for Studying  European Development Strategies at the UzhNU Petro Tokar was one of the participants of the international forum.

The events were divided into three units:

I. Edges of Identity: Religious, National, Ethnical, Cultural and Political

ІІ. Identity, War and Migration

ІІІ. The Role and Impact of Various Social Institutions on the Identity Formation

Colleagues of the Department of International Studies and Public Communications took an active part in the discussion within the framework of the Forum on October 7, 2022. In particular, on this day there was a discussion: Challenges of identity in times of war. Internally displaced people, refugees, migrants’, which was organized by the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations of Lviv Polytechnic National University as a partner of the event. Oksana Pyatkovska, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Deputy Director of the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations of Lviv Polytechnic National University was the moderator of the discussion (she participated in the Second Summer school of JMTC on the training course ‘Immigration and Transnationalism: the EU Experience’ and also published an article in the last scientific edition of ‘Geopolitics’)

Mykola-Myroslav Petretskyi, politician, member of the Romanian Parliament, president of the Union of the Ukrainians of Romania.

Invited scientists, officials, state, religious and political figures took part at the Forum’s panels and discussions. More than 30 lectures, reports and performances were announced. It was about different interpretations, understanding of the concept of identity and its meanings in the formation of the national identity of Ukrainians in the conditions of war.
